Design of Experiments
Experimental Design Techniques for Process Modeling and Optimization
by Peter L. Knepell Peak Quality Services
Part 1, A Primer - Systematic approaches to collecting
and analyzing data are becoming increasingly important in manufacturing
and design. Modern experimental design techniques save time, money,
and resources in a variety of situations. This article introduces
this subject in a way that de-mystifies the underlying concepts.
Part 2, Screening for Rapid, Efficient Insights
- The first article introduced a five-step statistical process improvement
approach. This one covers screening, one of the most powerful steps
in design of experiments. Four different screening techniques are
discussed. The simple, graphical analysis methods described are almost
"back-of-the-envelop" procedures. A more rigorous statistical analysis
(ANOVA) is introduced in an intuitive way. Download
